On-site hardware data destruction: On-site data destruction includes data destruction by crushing, degaussing and other methods, inventory validation, packaging and shipping, and certification. This is done at the facility of the hardware owner.

Off-site hardware data destruction: This includes data destruction using similar methods at the facility of the data destruction provider.

Types of storage media: Depending on the type of storage media, the devices are treated accordingly. The types of storage media are decided based on the metals in it.

Data destruction standards: Every data destruction company has to follow the data destruction standards set by the governing bodies of the state to be authorized to offer the services.
